   There is a neat device used by telephone and/or cable installers that is a 2-piece test tool. One end sends a signal down a wire and the second is used to search for the other end.  I am not home or I would send the specifics.  I think it cost less than $50.  A Google search should be easy.   When I am home I'll send a pic.

	This tester is connected to the conductor of a wire. The locator (the pointed thing) is quite sensitive and only needs to be held near the insulated wire. It might help tracing the wire.
