Bonjour,
Hello, I have just bought a Hanse 315. My old boat had an open cockpit, and on the 315 it's difficult for me to get on board once the platform is up. I'd like to know if other owners have considered fitting a gangway or another system, such as a hydraulic jack with remote control. Thank you in advance for your feedback. |

The 315 has about 1 meter of free-board so it can be challenging to climb aboard. In my current marina... the docks are only slightly above the water at high tide. And Yes, climbing aboard and stepping over over the lifelines is not easy. I hold on to the backstay when climbing aboard and that seems to help a lot. I always get on first and then lower the stern platform for guests... So far I am managing this but the idea of a gangway is interesting. Another idea is to put a step or two on the dock and that may be easier. Good luck and if you find a solution please post it. Bonne chance und gluck. JZ

We have a 348 with a "gate" where the life lines unclip, so it's easier to climb aboard. Still, even at a medium height dock, it's too far of a step for my wife, so we use a FenderStep. I adjust its lines so it hangs about halfway between the gunwale and the dock. It lasted 4 years before an air leak in the seam deflated the fender. Time for a new one, bought via Amazon, arriving today! Link: https://danfender.com/c/products/fender-step

Hugh,
We have a two step version of this type of fender step which we often use when we are alongside which works very well. They are a bit more difficult to find in a chandlery as they don't seems to be stocked as often as the single step version. We used the blue "ladder" type with 4 steps but they always seems to tear at the top.
