It looks fantastic but a bit scary with those winds.

Hi,
I started as a normal morning with almost no wind to finish the race.
The wind changed from a 10 knot southerly to a 25 to 30 knot westerly that an hour later increased to gale force levels. The video was taken later, after the wind dropped again to 35..40 knots, but the waves remained for the rest of the race. We couldn't finish the race and found shelter in the commercial harbour of Lavrion, which is relatively protected from westerly winds and waves. To enter in our marina with gale force westerly wind is suicidal.

Excellent! Lots of adrenalin at those speeds and the sound of the sea rushing by the transom is like a roar!

Panos, I noticed a block on the side of the boom near the mast. Do you have a german sheeting type arrangement for the main with a track on the cockpit floor just ahead of the pedestals? Did the factory do that for you or was it an aftermarket mod?

Hi Steve,

We have a German sheeting system and each end of the main sheet ends to a brake ,each side of the boat. We can engage it to the main or secondary winches. Usually we operate the main on one side of the boat, except when gybing when we use both winches at the same time for speed reasons.
We do not have a track. We only have a central fixed block. We use the boomvang to control the roach and the sheet to control the boom position. This is normal in big boats. A traveler would be only useful if we had an extra pair of winches and a traveler operator==> would turn our boat to a racing machine.
