Hi
My consumer/house batteries does not share a common negative with the thruster batteries. That was not easy to detect. And gave me trouble when wiring a remote for the thruster. Perhaps a similar issue you got? As mentioned above try measuring near the battey or extend the negative when measuring.

Yes. The thruster 12/24 charger and the 12/24 converter (controller power) both have isolated grounds.
