Well as W&R ( Worst & Rubbish ) told me that I am idiot not capable to fold my FCL wardrobe to fit into their perfectly designed and manufactured lazybag I had to find my own way to solve this problem. At least they admitted that the masthood was way too small and they supplied a new much bigger one. Still Hanse refused to change the lazy bag to a bigger one. I decided to have a triangle shaped insert made by a local sail maker. Now I can easily close the zipper without the risk of damaging the expensive FCL main sail. He promised me that he will see me with in order for making me a new bag within the next 24 months
Comparing W&R Quality with the jib cover and bimini made by Nauti Sattler I know why.
I repeat my advice to have all canvas work ( lazy bag, jib cover, bimini, sprayhood... )to be excecuted by a knowledgable local outfit and not to order it ex works.

we had our lazy-jack replaced this year, sinc cloth quality of the original one was to light. After 4 years it had holes everywhere
First 4000 miles, no substantial problems

Hi there, still a very new 415 for me but I have the FCL sails and the standard bag. I lower the sail as quickly as she'll drop. Then I crank in the vang to get the boom super low almost touching the spray hood. Then crank it off to one side and I can then really get over it to work the material into straight pleats. I roll the sides inward as I close the zipper so it can tighten in on its own as I move up the boom. Not easy I would say but it is consistently working. Not too much room for it to be crinkled and messy, that's for sure.

Jon and others, I have just sent an email to Elvstrom inquiring about their sail drop bag.  Do you recommend their bag?  I, too, have a laminated sail.  does the sail fall mostly in the bag?  Are the lazy jacks adjustable?  Is it easy to roll the bag up on either side (as I do for racing)? Do they use Sunbrella or similar material?  Or a lighter material? Thanks for any info you can provide.

I think anything from Elvström is better than W&R ( worst and rubbish ).
Furthermore you can specify all the Features your sailbag should have.
From Hanse you get inferior quality ( not Sunbrella ) and a one size ( does not ) fits all.

I'm considering making one myself. What I see are two types of stack pack / zip pack, one with a aluminium rail nailed on the boom and one use the groove in the boom. I think Elvstrom is doing it that way. Any experience to share why to chose one or the other?

My 2006 370 came with the sail pack that slides in the boom. The advantage, as I see it, is that no extra hardware is required.  It requires a loose footed main. Either system should have substantial mesh inserts at the lowest part of the sail pack to allow drainage and air flow. Take a look at www.leesailcovers.com. They offer a slightly different model that simply fits under the boom and is supported by the lazy jacks. If I was to buy a new one now, I might try theirs since it would be very easy to remove when racing.

Thanks Silversailor. I don't race that often with my boat, so I don't mind having the flaps of the stack pack up. I wonder how the system of Lee Sail Covers stays attached to the boom.

Drainage is indeed a good point, especially when it slides in the boom I presume it's closed at the bottom and with a one length string going through the boom.

I agree with Silversailor about the groove fitted bag much simpler. There is no line in the boom but a line at the mast end of the bag to tow it down the boom until it reaches the mast where you tie it off. If making one yourself make sure the slots in the lazy bag are in the right position for the reefing line to pull the foot of the sail tight like an outhaul. The slot in the Lazy bag for Reef 1 in my Hanse lazy bag is in too far forward. This means the bottom of the reefed sail is very very full & more like the shape of a spinnaker! Short of cutting the bag I can't alter the situation.
