   Job done.  Yesterday I fitted the last section of sock insulated 90mm duct replacing the partially trodden on 60mm under the seating to the bulkhead.  I had already opened the hole and had the master cabin sorted ready, just a new 90/60/90 Y junction in the heads required. That was a job in itself.
However, with the programmer set in normal mode, a rear cabin, day heads and saloon vents open, I'm getting 3.1m/s of hot air rather than anticipation up front.

For those in the UK that's 6.9mph (78.89l/s or 283.99cum/hr).  I've not measured the master cabin to work out its volume but I suspect that at that rate a complete air change could have occurred, or close too, in an hour.

No more cold trips to the galley to make that early cup of tea!

	Hi guys, Would like to build on Jon’s old post and Webasto adventure. My Webasto was also finicky, ran for a bit, not very warm, then shutting off without error message. Today decided to see how it runs with the duct detached from the heater. When I took off the duct it was very brittle, basically almost broke off and the inner paper lining was detached, much like Jon’s picture. I ran the heater without ducting and it ran fine, the back off the boat bloody hot. I suspect the inner lining formed a plug early on in the ducting. I also detached the duct at the first y-joint and there the inner lining was still in one piece and attached. So, now looking to replace the first 4 meters (roughly) of the duct. If that doesn’t do the job, I’ll work my way further forward, down the ducting. Now my dilemma; the standard ducting (i think) is PAPK (paper-aluminum-Paper-Plastic) although I don’t quite see the 2nd layer of paper. APK (Aluminum-Paper-Plastic) is also being sold, but I see mainly PAPK at the typical watersport shops. Was thinking to rid the paper liner, I.e. only have aluminium inside, but read somewhere that you don’t want APK as that causes aluminum oxide dust to be blown all around the boat ? So, what is the best duct to use, especially right after the heater where the air is really hot ?? Most obvious would, be to use PAPK again (grey with Webasto print on it) but then the paper liner issue will pop up again after a while… regards, Peter Edited by Rock - 04 February 2024 at 20:56

	Hi Peter, I was lucky to have good advice from an installer in Swanick, who was also on the Webasto stand at the Southampton boat show.. My model was meant for lorry cabs, certainly not a14m boat, so I bought not only the correct model but the ducting and junctions. Plus the insulation sock removing the paper element. The only section I couldn't manage to replace was that under the day heads however, it acts as underfloor heating to what becomes a drying room. I reversed the Y junctions as suggested and this ensures a continuation of air pressure within the system to supply the mstter cabin with the warm air I had been longing for. Since replacing the previous model I've had no issues, runs every time.

	Thanks Jon. There must be (one would hope) a good reason that all our standard ducting have the paper inside, and that these ducts are still (from what I can figure out) the standard for replacement. What is the built of your new ducting, are they aluminum inside ? Are they Webasto built, grey with logo, or black like the yard installed?

It was compressed into two lenghts of 1 meter! Later when I have changed the old uninsulated hose, I will report of any problems like to get an insulated hose of 150 mm through a 100 mm hole. :Kjeld

	Just to close this little loop on my end, and for interest. I ordered new ducting for the 1st 4 meters from the heater. Installed it, first without hooking the 1st 4 meters op to the rest. Heater worked like a dream. Than hooked up the system, it works like it should, I’m so happy that it was something simple this time ! My new duct is APK (paper in between the aluminium inside and the plastic outside). Turns out the old/OEM duct was PAK, not PAPK. seems like an odd choice by Hanse. After 1 meter the inside looked worse than what Jon found in 2016 And after another meter So, no surprise the Webasto did not like that. This is what came out, it was very rigid, hard. After the first junction the ducting was also PAK, but the paper was still in place. Shows the value of the forum again, I would never have thought my problem may have been caused by plugged ducting if Jon would not have mentioned it. Thanks !
